The stage design of Eurovision 2013 stage was presented last week and this year the stage differs notably from previous years. One of the new innovations that are included in the stage are projectors that replace the huge LED screens.
– Pretty much from the very first day, we implemented a pixel ban in this production. We were just SO tired of seeing pixels in the background of artists, and wanted to go in another direction. We scribbled on the very tip of the iceberg when we based the entire look of the Eurovision on projection, back in 2002 and 2004, but there is SO much more you could do, while yet another show, with yet another LED screen seemed like a dead end, the Technical Director Ola Melzig tells on his blog.
Therefore a total of 28 Barco’s HDQ-2K40 projectors will be used in Malmö. These projectors allow many new interesting tricks such as holograms. This feature is demonstrated below.
