We have barely survived the 2013 season when the first country already announces its plans for 2014. The Finnish broadcasting company Yle has opened the submission period for Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu (UMK) which will once again choose their representative for Eurovision.
Willing artists can participate with their works until September 16. After that, the jury selects 12 artists to compete in televised heats. The final will take place in February with eight acts competing, just like this year.
At least one of the composers and lead singers must have Finnish citizenship or live permanently in Finland. Each artist can participate with only one work and it is not allowed to participate any other pre-selection with the same song. The application form can be found here.
