Macedonian gypsy music legend Esma Redzepova has denied news spreading over the internet about her blaming gays after not qualifying for the final of Eurovision Song Contest. A Serbian tabloid wrote earlier this week that Esma was shocked to notice how gays have taken over the event and that it’s why they didn’t qualify.

Today, however, a Macedonian site says that Esma has denied all homophobic comments.

– I’ve never said such things. I love gays and I have never offended them, Esma comments this ‘scandal’.

Esma and Vlatko received 28 points in the second semi-final on Thursday and only finished 16th out of 17 participants.
