After Aalborg, also another Danish city has decided not to aim to get to host Eurovision Song Contest 2014 afterall. This time it’s a small city in the eastern part of Jutland, Fredericia. This is because of the requirements, set by EBU and DR. The planned venue, the Convention Centre MesseC, is not suitable for the big contest.
– We suddenly received word from DR that the event requires a hall without columns, a requirement that cannot be fulfilled at MesseC. As such the mayoral group held a meeting and decided that we would of course withdraw our application, Jørn Pedersen, from ‘Trekantområdet Danmark’ comments.
Therefore only three cities are still in race and as the deadline already passed earlier this month, no new cities can apply. Copenhagen, Herning or Horsens will be hosting Eurovision in 2014, but which one? It remains to be seen later on.
