The first-ever performer on Eurovision stage passed away

Jetty Paerl

Jetty Paerl has passed away. She represented Netherlands in the 1956 Eurovision Song Contest together with Corry Brokken as that year each country could send two songs. Netherlands opened the show and Jetty Paerl had the honor of becoming the first artist singing in the song contest.

Paerl was born in 1921, thus she celebrated her 92th birthday earlier this year. Her Eurovision entry, De Vogels Van Holland, can be listened below.
