Next year will mark 20 years since Lithuania first entered Eurovision Song Contest. To celebrate this, the Lithuanian broadcaster invests in its pre-selection format more than ever and aims to finally bring the contest to the country. Therefore, LRT has teamed up with production company Videometra for Eurovizijos 2014.

Today, the broadcaster held a press conference where it revealed more of its plans for 2014. The submission period for willing artists and songwriters to enter the contest closed two weeks ago. Those 20 who will compete in the televised pre-selection will be revealed in near future.

In the press conference, it was hinted that this year the contest will be of better quality and that some big names are included.

This week, the ‘anniversary concert’ will be recorded which will air on December 14. A week after that, the competition really begins. Shows will air every week between December 21st and February 8th. National final takes place on February 15 where the audience and jury both have the power to select the Lithuanian representative. This year, there will also be an international jury rating the songs. Six acts will eventually compete in the final.

A Lithuanian multi-talent Arūnas Valinskas will host the shows together with singer Simona Nainė.
