Despite EBU extended the deadline for broadcasters to apply, a Bulgarian representative won’t be seen in Copenhagen. This was confirmed once again by BNT today.
The broadcaster highlights that the decision is regarding 2014 only and that future is open. The reason for skipping the song contest is the same as for many other broadcasters, lack of money. Participation fee and other costs have become too high for the broadcaster’s 2014 budget.
In addition to Bulgaria, also Croatia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Cyprus and Serbia skips Eurovision this year. It is still unclear whether Slovenia and Greece will participate or not. The former is looking for a sponsor and the latter doesn’t have any EBU member broadcasters at the moment.
