DR takes over the 2014 Eurovision venue

B&W Hallerne

B&W Hallerne in Copenhagen are being prepared to host this year’s song contest. The pillars which separated the two halls have been removed which was necessary in order to welcome 10,000 spectators.

These pillars have caused extra trouble for the organizers and they had to seek for extra funding from the city of Copenhagen to get rid of them.

– Now we have a venue in an unique environment. It fulfills all the requirements while it creates a crude impression thanks to the visible beams and pillars, this has fascinated us in B&W Hallerne, Søren Therkelsen from DR comments.

Stage being built

The stage of the contest is in the works and the back wall of it has been assembled inside the arena. DR is yet to reveal how the stage will look like and what it features. So far they have only told that they will take advantage of the high roof.

– The stage is already starting to take shape and now that the pillars have been removed, we are able to start building the audience stands, Therkelsen adds.

This year, the green room will be inside the venue just like in Baku. Backstage where for example the dressing rooms will be, is located right next to B&W Hallerne in a huge tent.
