Suzy – Quero Ser Tua
After skipping the 2012 contest, Portugal returned and used the familiar Festival da Canção as their national final. RTP first invited ten composers to enter the race to first compose the competing songs and then choose artists to perform them. The contest consisted of two shows, first all ten competed in the semi-final in early March and the five most voted qualified for the national final which took place one week later. In both shows the audience had full power in results and no juries were used this time. The voting caused some controversy after the final when it was accused that the composer of the winning entry would have manipulated the voting.
Suzy, or Susana Guerra by her real name, was born in 1980. As a kid she was already actively singing and acting and she was a member of Onda Choc which was a popular kids’ band in early 1990s. In 2002 Suzy released her first solo album and at the same time she was starring the My Fair Lady musical. Later on she moved to the States and returned to Portugal in 2010 to record new songs. Already two years later she left Portugal again and headed for Dubai. Suzy was invited to take part the Portuguese national final by Emanuel who is the song’s composer. Suzy accepted the offer and now she is representing Portugal in ESC 2014!
