Once again, the Swedish representative was chosen through their national selection, Melodifestivalen 2014. 32 entries competed, 8 in each of the 4 semifinals. Two went directly to the final from each semifinal, and two went to the second chance. In the second chance, the two most voted acts got the last two spots in the final. Out of the ten finalists, the winner was chosen by 50/50 public voting and international juryvoting.
Sanna Nielsen is 29 years old, and has already been one of Sweden’s most famous singers, starting at the age of 11. Since then she has released as much as nine albums, and her EP, Undo EP, which went to the top in the Swedish iTunes chart. Sanna Nielsen is a known name in Melodifestivalen‘s history. She competed for the first time back in 2001, followed by 2003, 2005, 2007, 2008, 2011 and lastly 2014. She has never missed a final through all these years, and always been close to winning. She can finally be able to fulfill one of her biggest dreams, to represent Sweden in Eurovision Song Contest.
