EBU: ‘No special permission for Greece this time’

38 countries have already confirmed their participation in 2015 song contest and one more is yet to make the final decision. Which country this is wasn’t mentioned.

What we know is that the Greek broadcaster NERIT’s intention to participate still needs to be verified by EBU. The issue is that NERIT is not an EBU Active Member which would allow them to compete in Eurovision.

For 2014 contest, the Reference Group made an exception and allowed NERIT, the new broadcaster replacing ERT, to enter Eurovision. This time no such exception will be made, Eurovision.tv reports.

The new Greek broadcaster must therefore become an Active Member before the Semi-Final Allocation Draw which will take place in Vienna in January.
