Israeli pre-selection kicks off next week

Rising Star

Israel tries a different format to choose their Eurovision 2015 representative. A popular talent competition HaKokhav HaBa returns for its second season and this time the winner will also get the ticket to Vienna. This contest is internationally known as Rising Star and it has aired in countries such as France, China, Hungary and Germany. The format itself is created in Israel.

The first program airs next week, on December 9th. The idea is that each candidate first sings behind a screen. The audience and the jurors will be voting during the performance and once the candidate has reached a certain percentage of votes, the screen is being lifted up and he or she qualifies for the next round.

Among the jurors is Harel Skaat who represented the country in 2010 with ‘Milim’. Other members of the jury panel are Assaf Etedgi, Mookie and Keren Peles.

The date of the final is yet to be announced.
