The Latvian revamped pre-selection will feature a jury panel which is made up of three music industry professionals. These are Dons, Kaspars Roga and Guntars Račs.
Kaspars Roga is a drummer of Brainstorm – the band which represented Latvia in Eurovision 2000 finishing third with ‘My Star’.
– I’m delighted to take up this challenge. I’m trying to be objective when it comes to judging the entries, Roga comments for LTV.
Dons is the stage name for Arturs Šingirejs. He is one of today’s most popular artists in the country. In 2008 he represented Latvia in New Wave where he came in fourth. He has also participated the Latvian Eurovision pre-selection twice, in 2010 and 2014.
Guntars Račs is a musician and producer. This year he joined the American Recording Academy where he has the power of deciding who gets the Grammy Awards. In Latvia he has been awarded several music industry awards.
National final in February
Supernova was created to find new rising stars and songs that will not only conquer local but also international charts. The semi-finals take place on February 2nd, 8th and 15th and the final on 22nd. In the final, there will be four acts and the winner is chosen 50/50 jury/televoters.
