The press center in Vienna was packed when Måns Zelmerlöw arrived to the winner’s press conference.
– My feelings right now are all over the place. I’m so proud, excited and happy!
Måns first appeared in the Swedish Idol ten years ago singing Enrique Iglesias’ ‘Hero’ in the auditions. Today, ten years later he won Eurovision Song Contest with ‘Heroes’! Måns entered Melodifestivalen twice before finally winning at his third attempt. Is it harder to win Melodifestivalen than Eurovision?
– Melodifestivalen is such a big show in Sweden and it has a high quality with good artists. But I think that Eurovision with 40 nations and many great songs is a very tough contest. I don’t think I would’ve won Eurovision with Cara Mia or Hope And Glory.
Måns has hosted several tv-shows in Sweden. Will he be hosting Eurovision Song Contest 2016 in Sweden?
– If the opportunity comes, I would be honored to do something like that!
Christer Björkman says that they start planning next year’s contest already on Tuesday. He invites every city to enter the host city race and welcomes all Europe to Sweden in 2016!
– The good thing is that it’s only three years since we did Eurovision last time. We do have a lot of fresh memories so we can avoid several mistakes we did last time. We will of course talk to ORF and get advice from them. We are absolutely prepared!
Eurovision Executive Supervisor Jon Ola Sand gave final words in the press conference. He thanked ORF for organising this year’s event and handed out the host broadcaster’s guide for SVT.
